In the late 19th century, elegant homes featured parlors as the heart of the household. These spaces showcased taste and style while hosting guests, reflecting societal status. With exquisite furnishings, parlors embodied the charm and sophistication of an era that valued social gatherings.

At Avoca Lodge, JJ and Molly Brown welcomed out-of-town guests with warmth and hospitality. Their well-equipped kitchen allowed them to host delightful parties and serve sumptuous meals, creating unforgettable experiences filled with laughter and joy.

JJ Brown had a deep desire to return to the country and build a sustainable farm. His design and engineering skills are evident throughout  Avoca Lodge. His study reveals the man, his hobbies, and what he collected, along with some interesting secrets!

Though it was primarily a summer home for the Browns to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Rocky Mountains, they also entertained. 

The dining room is intimate yet generous in proportion. 

There was also a large barn built on the estate that the Brown's held large summer dances. 

Collected over almost a century, photos of the farm, the house, and the Browns give a visitor insight into the summer home of the Browns and the permanent home of the Fehlmanns.

Preserved and passed down, the fourth-generation owner and granddaughter knows the stories by heart. 

The Hunting Room was a more casual room for the family to gather each day. Both the Browns and the Fehlmanns gathered around the large fireplace to reflect on the day. It is called the Hunting Room for a reason. Come and see!
