The Fehlmanns-Keepers of Avoca Lodge

JJ and Molly Brown built Avoca Lodge as a summer home, but the true successors and caretakers of this historical site are the Fehlmanns. Momo Shearer, granddaughter and fourth-generation owner, has lovingly preserved and maintained historical archives of paintings and belongings of the Browns and the Fehlmanns.

Momo Shearer was raised just over the hill from the Molly Brown Summer House. Her home was part of the original Brown farm. She remembers running down the footpath to her grandmother's every day and enjoying time and treats.

The Felhmanns preserved many items in the original home, from the fireplaces, kitchen, photos, plates and dishes, and secret items owned by the Browns never been seen before. The personal stories of JJ and Molly Brown and the Fehlmanns have been passed down and are now part of the unique guided tours of the Molly Brown Summer House and Pavilion.

In keeping with the tradition of JJ and Molly Brown's famous barn dances and dinners held in the summers at Avoca Lodge, Momo Shearer built an addition to the historic home. The Denver Pavilion is a separate building on the grounds open to events, gatherings, parties, and corporate meetings. Added services and catering, as well as seating and linens, make this ideal for any occasion.
